One of my daily reads on the net is Astronomy Picture of the Day. Astronomy lends itself to pictures rather well since it rather hard to touch or smell distant objects.
It is a good way to keep up with the basics of what's going on in astronomy and to pick up some really beautiful pictures. It's one of the best sources of good desktop pictures.
